Cultures unite for unique two-day event

(Toronto, Ontario) April 26, 2010 - For the first time in Toronto, the treasured mosaic that composes the city's languages and cultures will meet together for a two-day event like no other.

The National Language and Cultural Expo will celebrate official, community and international languages, as well as intercultural and global awareness.

"We are honoured to welcome OMNI TV as a media sponsor to help us bring the world together under one roof and promote cultural diversity and awareness," said Show Manager, Anna Kozina.

The National Language and Cultural Expo will feature a plethora of businesses, associations, cultural groups and organizations, government agencies, school boards, examination boards, community groups, educational and student exchange programs, and ethnic media.  The Expo is open to the public, language learners, language teachers, linguists, interpreters, educators, businesses, professional organizations and associations and anyone who is passionate about, or interested in, languages and world cultures.

"This event is an excellent opportunity to learn, converse, understand cultures, and do business
with a large variety of Canadians, and countries around the world," said Ms. Kozina. "During these two days in October people can receive all the help, advice and resources needed to learn or teach languages with English and French Fairs, Language Career and Business Fairs, and Cultural Exhibitions."

The National Language and Cultural Expo runs Saturday, October 2, from 10 am to 6 pm and Sunday, October 3, from 10 am to 5 pm at the Direct Energy Centre, Exhibition Place, 100 Princes Blvd., Toronto.

National Language & Cultural Expo 2010 Presents:
Language & Cultural Series

What language and cultural resources are available in Toronto?

To help you navigate the city's cultural landscape, we are featuring our Partners and Exhibitors, and the services they offer to the public and to professionals in the GTA.

With a plethora of languages in the city, many different companies require translating and interpreting in order to provide efficient services to clients and customers. Whether working with local ethnic groups and communities, or doing business internationally. Multi-Languages Corporation is a professional translation and interpreting company, and are sharing some recent changes in the industry, and the services they offer.

1) Please briefly describe changes taking place in the translations and interpreting industry in Canada, and how they affect companies and businesses.

The translation and interpreting sectors have experienced tremendous changes in the last five years, for the first time, we have national standards for both translation and community interpreting, these standards guide the provision of high quality language services...(read more)

2) What resources and strategies does your organization use to ensure all languages and cultures are included and represented?

We support inclusion of the different cultures by offering our services in the vast majority of languages spoken in Ontario, even though we regularly work only in 25-35 language combinations, we constantly recruit translators and interpreters in Languages of Lesser Diffusion (LLD) to make sure that we would be able to assist those members of the community that do not speak one of the official languages.

3) Why did Multi-Languages decide to participate in the National Language and Cultural Expo?

The National Language and Cultural Expo is an excellent venue to network, to showcase our services to potential clients as well as to recruit freelance translators and interpreters.

4) What programs or services do you plan to present at the Expo?

Multi-Languages will showcase our translation and interpretation services, our staff will be available to answer any questions not only about our services but about the translation and interpreting sector in general. We will contribute as well through a workshop on how to create a professional resume and time management for the translation and interpreting field and by participating in the organization of a panel about translation and interpreting standards.

Join us October 2-3, 2010 at The Direct Energy Centre, Exhibition Place,
for the National Language & Cultural Expo!
