Serbian president Boris Tadic stood up for Serbian aggression against Serbia's neighbouring countries, visibly Croatia, in a not so suave way: He intervenes with the ICTY's processes expressing his fear that general Gotovina would be liberated, given that the accusations against him concerning Croatia's 1995 operation Storm are turned down. Croatian prime minister Jadranka Kosor also found it to be a pressure on the court. But Mr Tadic's public statement endangers an already fragile reconciliation between Serbia and Croatia and represents a threat to peace. Serbian president should ask himself were the war took place, to start with. Next, the hunt against an innocent general, so often singled out as a cause of all failures by Croatian and Serbian politicians to put in order their states after the war, is entirely irrational, inhuman and barbarous. Gen Gotovina's extradition (prior to his Dec 2005 arrest) was first presented as an obstacle for Croatia to join the EU, without anyone being kept accountable for such incitement to injustices toward an innocent man, which in itself couldn't be more outrageous than it was, since he was trained for military art in an EU country (French legion). It proved to be a false pretext, and an excuse, for Croatia's disoriented public policy and useless bureaucracy which plunged the country into crimes and disorder. Yet, the innocent man is still in prison. Now Tadic, often presented as a democratic, and even a pro-American president (finally, a NYC firm was in charge of his public relations during his ascendance to Serbian presidency), manifests the lack of basic understanding of European moral, not to mention justice standards. Not much different than the ICTY, though. What's their problem indeed? Croatia and Serbia kept apart: How Europe could allow it? What are its foundations, moral and other ones, so that it allows such a hunt against an innocent man!? More than a hundred years ago, Vladimir Serguevitch Soloviev noted "the well-known religious indifference of Serbs, as well as their mania to employ the orthodoxy as a political instrument in their fraternal combat against Croatian Catholics" (La Russie et l’Église Universelle, 1889). Tadic's current mania against an innocent man, in which he employs his highest political function, and would like to employ the ICTY, too, is clearly a setback toward a savage barbarism. It is a violation of basic moral standards in our century. It's simply horrible in the world that prophesises human rights. It is a deterioration of everything good that Croatia and Serbia claim to be able to bring into the EU with their membership. But the EU is also responsible for their irrational hunt against an innocent man.

Serbian criminal Savo Strbac would be a “liberator,” HDZ’s PM Ivo Sanader a porno correspondent? June 13, 2006 Asked by Globus what he thought about Gotovina as warrior, Strbac replied. “I don’t know. I have no opinion about it. If he was in Foreign Legion, as he really was, he was obviously trained to engage in war, and trained to kill. I was recently asked if I had the witnesses who would confirm that Gotovina killed someone. I have none. But he was a commander and the command responsibility…. He either ordered, or didn’t prevent [the crimes], or didn’t punish [those who were responsible for the crimes], that’s his responsibility.” Savo Strbac also said he “believes Gotovina would appear [before the ICTY] – unless he encounters a tragic accident.” [more]
